Came back from the beach this afternoon only to find a very injured Mewsif. Looks like she got herself into a bit of a scrap and had her belly ripped open. She's at the vet now for an extended convalescent holiday...

At Ravi's, a delicious Pakistani/Indian joint, in Satwa with the EcoSecurities crew. Ina, Marc, Michelle, and Mark are working on the RAK Landfill project that is getting validated this week (fingers crossed).

The terrorist attack, umm, I mean the fireworks factory explosion, that shook us all awake this morning at 7:15... Freaky! The windows bubbled in a bit from the concussion and scared the bejesus out of us. Toni took off on his bike first thing and snapped a bunch of photos (hopefully you'll see them in Getty). The buildings are packed together in Al Quoz industrial area, and there are apparently already a total of 7 buildings up in flames as well. A testament to the frontier town that is Dubai: an embarassingly small amount of oversight and regulation on industry leads to shit things like this happening...

Stairway to Heaven

Headed out this past weekend with a few rugby mates, their family, and Dana and Roxy to climb the Stairway to Heaven trail just north of Ras al Khaimeh. We spent the night camping by the trailhead, a few beers and some bbq to pass the time, and headed out at first light Friday morning, right aroung 6:50. The climb was great: fresh, exposed, and loads of fun with the group. I'd recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to doing it again, hopefully with Pano when he swings out here in a few months.
